Year 2 have had a fantastic time at Normanby Hall today. They sketched in the secret garden, took part in some finger painting and worked as a team to create a fabric wall hanging which we will display in the classroom.
The Year 2 and Year 4 trip will be taking place on Monday. All children will need to bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink and a sun hat. As our weather can be unpredictable please also provide a rain coat in case of rain. Children should come to school in their school uniform.
Some of the activities will take place outside within the woodland area of Normanby Hall. Can we therefore ask that you provide your child with some long trousers, a long sleeved top and some trainers in a named carrier bag. Please ensure that the clothes you send can be worn whilst taking part in outdoor arts and crafts activities. Leggings or tracksuit/jogging bottoms would be ideal.
This afternoon the children explored the different parts of plants and flowers by taking them apart carefully. They counted the petals and leaves, compared sizes, colours and patterns and used their scientific vocabulary to name different parts of the plants and flowers including the petal, root, stem, shoot, flower head and leaves.
Something strange happened in Year 2 today. The children were all sprayed with a special spray that made them all mini-beast sized! They explored the school grounds and thought about all the adventures that they would go on if they really were that size. Their ideas were fantastic! Keep checking the blog for their fantastic writing all about it.
Children in Year 2 have been looking at different plants and what they need to grow. This week they have been investigating whether seeds will grow in different materials. They set up their investigation and tried to ensure that it was a fair test by using the same sized pot and the same type of seed. We are going to be observing the changes closely. Keep checking our class blog for updates.
