Problem Solving

Today in Maths Year 2 had a very tricky problem to solve. They were asked to place the numbers 1-6 in the circles so that each number was the difference between the two numbers just below it. There were lots of different ways to do this. The children found it difficult to begin with but kept trying and soon began to find lots of possibilities.

Problem Solving

What fantastic problem solving in Year 2! The children were asked to share 15 pennies into 4 bags so that they could pay any sum of money from 1p to 15p without opening any of the bags. They needed to find out how many pennies could be in each of the bags. They tried lots of different possibilities until they found a way that worked.

Investigating

In maths today the children were asked to help Buzzy Bee with his honeycomb by finding the pattern in the honeycomb pieces and filling in the missing numbers. They had to use their knowledge of place value to help them. They found it tricky to begin with but soon started to see the patterns!
